Happy 60th Birthday, Israel

This article was written by one my favorite journalists, Doron Rosenblum of “haaretz”

Tomorrow Israel is turning 60. The Israeli nation had gone through so many wars and threats to it’s existence and before that the holocaust, the distinction of 6 million Jews.

We learned not to boast or be too positive. We were always afraid that something bad would happen. Israelis are more used to self criticism, disappointments and only strive for normalization. There is always the fear of the unknown that makes it almost impossible to celebrate and be completely happy. Finally now, after 60 years, Israel is slowly raising its’ head and is looking back at its’ fantastic cultural and life achievements. Finally, Israel can look around and be happy knowing that it’s small but very successful in every aspect of life. What motivates Israel is HOPE. Even the national anthem is “hatikva” which means hope. Rosenblum is writing about optimistic motivation. He first brings all those people who keep saying “haval”, I wish I bought that field or I wish I bought that building, or opened that factory. All the optimistics invested in Israel and did very well. Instead of counting our troubles, let’s invest in optimism and keep growing and succeeding.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom is also celebrating in Israel please click to see a YouTube from his visit.

Happy Birthday Israel!
